  1. Barra Beach

    Barra da Tijuca Beach  –  it’s the biggest beach in Rio de Janeiro with 15km long that covers Barra and Reserva beaches (beach with environmental protection). The Barra da Tijuca have 3 lagoons and Marapendi is the biggest one. The Barra da Tijuca region consists in 8 neiborhoods: Barra da Tijuca, Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Vargem Pequena, Vargem Grande, Camorim, Grumari, Joá and Itanhangá, plus dozens os sub-districts, covering a population of approximately 300 thousand people. The total area is 165,59km² and it’s equal of the urban region of Tel Aviv, Israel os Miami City, Florida. For being an open beach, it’s one of the favorites of the surfers and lovers of radical sports being used by practitioners of Jetski, Windsurf and Kaitesurf. Nowadays the Barra da Tijuca beach it’s part of the WCT Calendar (World Championship Tour) as an stage for the month of may.

    Grumari Beach

    Conhecida principalmente pelas belezas de sua orla. Grumari é o bairro menos populoso do Rio de Janeiro, pois grande parte de sua área é ocupada pela orla e por uma área de proteção ambiental.
    Seu nome, que vem do indígena “CURU” (pedras soltas) e “MARI” (que produz água), nome também de uma árvore encontrada na da região. A Praia de Grumari é cercada pelas serras do Grumari, de Guaratiba e de Piabas, sendo esta a última área natural e preservada do litoral carioca.
    Grumari Beach – Primarily Known by the natural beauty on its border. Grumari is the less populous neibohood in Rio de Janeiro because most of its area is border and environmental protection area. Its name comes from indian lenguage: “CURU” (loose rock) and “MARI” (that makes water), it’s also the name of the tree that’s found in the region. The Grumari beach is surrounded by Grumari mountain, Guaratiba mountain and Piabas mountain where there is a natural area with a environmental protection area in the carioca litoral.

     

    Recreio Beach

    With 2,8km long of beach that starts after Pontal Beach with white sand and good waves. This beach is the surfers favorite, mainly in Posto 10.

     

    Prainha Beach

    With 700m long, it is the heaven for the surfers with perfect waves. In 2001 was funded The Municipal Natural Park of Prainha, an environmental protection area and surrounded by hills, it is home for several species of fauna and flora. And for those who like hiking, you can go to the observatory at the Caeté hill where can see the beatifull view of the Prainha Beach and Barra da Tijuca.

     Abricó Beach

    with 1,5km long it is the only beach in Rio de Janeiro that allows naturism.

    Reserva Beach

    Betwen Barra and Recreio Beachs, it’s an 8km of environmental protection area.
